Barratt London’s Hendon Waterside development celebrates its 300th Help To Buy customer ..
Barratt London’s Hendon Waterside development is uniquely set in one of London’s most beautiful and green locations, next to the scenic 170-acre Welsh Harp Reservoir. The development recently celebrated its 300th Help to Buy customer, 36-year-old Marjan Kalanaki and her husband Ehsan. They purchased a three-bedroom apartment for £599,000 with a £48,000 deposit.
Barratt London has donated £1,000 to Marjan’s charity of choice, International Spinal Research Trust, to mark her milestone purchase at the scheme. Marjan was introduced to the development by a friend, and after visiting they started renting at the development. Having saved for a deposit, they looked around a number of properties across London to buy, but they struggled with something suitable for Marjan, who’s in a wheelchair.
The software developer explains: “Our friend lives at Hendon Waterside and when we went visited we loved the area and the vibe – it was also really easy to move around, which may sound crazy but when you’re in a wheelchair this is a luxury. We then found a property on the development to rent.
“After saving for a deposit to buy our first home, we visited a number of developments in London, and whilst they claim to be accessible, the reality is they aren’t. If I’m to move into an apartment, I need it to have two lifts, just in case one stops working, otherwise I’m trapped at home. Likewise, I need wider doorways and whilst there are policies in place, many new homes still fall short.
When Barratt London released a new phase at Hendon Waterside, it was a no brainer to buy here, the external and internal doors are wide and they are mindful of the needs of wheelchair users. We’re really looking forward to settling in, and making it our own. I’m especially looking forward to lazy afternoons on my balcony.”
Ed McCoy, Sales Director at Barratt West London, comments: “It is really important to us that what we build is accessible, and we are delighted that Marjan feels at home and comfortable at our development. We endeavour to ensure that wherever we can, accessibility for all is available throughout the development.”
Hendon Waterside is located on the banks of the Welsh Harp reservoir, with plenty of open spaces for play, leisure and exercise. A brand new piazza and Cooperative supermarket have recently opened on site, and the development will eventually be linked with the nearby playing fields and bowling club by a pedestrian bridge across the Welsh Harp.
Once complete, Hendon Waterside will be a thriving community of 2,000 new homes with a mix of tenures. It is schedule for full completion in 2028. The sales suite at Meadowlark House, Moorhen Drive, Hendon, London NW9 7QA is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am-5:30pm and 12:30pm-5:30pm on Mondays.
