New Luxury hotels set to open in the capital this year

We take a look at he capital’s newest five-star hotels set to open this year …

No one can deny the last few months have been extremely difficult for the hospitality industry, but as the UK slowly starts to open up pending the vaccine rollout we can hopefully look forward to seeing some new additions to the hotel scene.

NoMad London, Covent Garden

Set to open in April 2021, NoMad London takes residence inside the historic, grade II-listed building famously known as The Bow Street Magistrates’ Court where The Krays and Oscar Wilde stood trial. Part of the Sydell Group, the ninetyone room hotel offer an understated luxury and residential comfort that is distinctly NoMad. If you’re unfamiliar with NoMad this will be the first NoMad outside of the United States where there hotels in New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas offering gracious hospitality combined with understated elegance and comfort.

NoMad London will feature an impressive restaurant under the direction of world-renowned Swiss chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara so expect Michelin level cuisine.

The Dilly, Piccadilly

One of the city’s first grand hotels dating back to Edwardian times previously known as Le Méridien Piccadilly has been transformed into The Dilly, an independently owned and operated hotel. 

The 283-room* hotel features an underground swimming pool one of the largest in London’s, a health club and spa with squash courts, seven meeting rooms, and food and beverage outlets including The Terrace. (*Upgrades on the 255 bedrooms and 28 suites will be ongoing, with 39 rooms ready for the planned launch on April 1st, 2021).

Interiors inside the hotel include function rooms in the style of Louis XIV with detailed oak panelling and elegant Epoque chandeliers. One of London’s most famous banquet rooms is the Oak Room which will initially host Madhu’s Mayfair – a fine dining Indian n restaurant featuring Punjabi cuisine with a Kenyan twist.

The Londoner, Leicester Square

The Londoner Hotel part of Edwardian Hotels is adding a new luxurious appeal to the south west corner of Leicester Square. Hailed as the world’s first ‘super boutique’ hotel thanks to a £300 million investment package. This first-of-its-kind super boutique hotel stands sixteen storeys high and comprises of 350 guest rooms, suites and a tower penthouse with panoramic views, two private screening rooms, a mix of six concept eateries – including bars and a tavern, alfresco dining and a contemporary Japanese lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and fire pit.

What goes up must also go down with the Londoner also housing several subterranean levels which host a variety of meeting spaces, including a state-of-the-art ballroom, seven private meeting rooms as well as a fitness centre, swimming pool and gym.

Mondrian Shoreditch London, East London

Set in the artistic Shoreditch neighborhood, Mondrian Shoreditch London offers a modern chic stay in London. Operated by world-leading hospitality group, and sbe, the opening will be Mondrian’s sixth hotel in the global portfolio and a European flagship. The hotel boasts exposed brick walls and custom artwork, all just a short walk from Old Street.

The 120-room property sits in the heart of Shoreditch, London’s creative and cultural hub. sbe will establish several of its signature food and beverage brands at Mondrian Shoreditch London, including a culinary experience by world-famous chef Dani García. This will be the first time Chef García will open a culinary experience with sbe in London. sbe will also revive the taste-making rooftop lounge Rumpus Room, long-term fixture in London’s glamorous nightlife scene, and will bring an award-winning mixology concept to the property. The Curtain Members Club, will also continue to operate under its current name.

Pan Pacific London,

Pacific Hotels Group will introduce its first signature Pan Pacific brand into Europe with the opening of Pan Pacific London. Designed by international design firm Yabu Pushelberg, the 43-storey hotel will house 237 rooms, 160 private residences and a vast wellness area with an 18-metre infinity pool, as well as the largest landscaped outdoor space of any luxury hotel in the area.

Located in the heart of London’s financial district at One Bishopsgate Plaza, the hotels suites offer panoramic views of some of London’s most recognized landmarks The Gherkin.
